BEHIND THE BRAND

Kaya Knitwear is a brand that incorporates who I am, it is a true reflection of myself and my heritage. I intend to celebrate me and other black women through my brand whilst using it to address black hair discrimination and what it is like to be a black woman. Alongside this, my aim is to change people's perspectives, letting it be known that knitting and knitwear can be for young people too.
Throughout each collection I use a bright colour palette to reflect me as a person. I am bold, and I have the talent and skill to express this through a colourful, striking, and commemorative brand.
The main ethos of Kaya Knitwear is that it is a slow fashion brand, to discourage waste that fast fashion brands are creating and to encourage consumers to be more sustainable and thoughtful about fashion. I make high quality knitwear by hand; this is reflected in the length of time taken to complete a garment, ensuring products are made to a high standard.
